For some manufacturers or producers, it was also the first time that they presented themselves live to a broader public at an event, as some companies are still young and therefore fresh on the market. Others are old hands who have been focused on direct sales to markets, through regional dealers or, in recent years, increasingly on mail order.

In the area of ​​thirst quenchers, local lemonades, which are even less well known, were also presented at this trade fair. These soles are only available with sugar content. Those who preferred alcohol could drink wine, but also taste schnapps, gin and liqueurs and buy them straight away if they wished. Almost all products come from Austrian production from small companies.

Definitely no one went home from the “Genusswelten Wien” hungry. Bakeries and pastry shops offered many different baked goods and pastries, which of course could also be tried. A fishmonger even offered fresh fish sandwiches. Those who preferred something meaty could find what they were looking for at the sausage and meat stalls. How about cheese? That too was available in abundance and of better quality. You could see for yourself before buying.

Sweets lovers weren’t left empty-handed either, as many small businesses were also represented in this segment. Pretty much everything was represented, from candied nuts to truffle specialties to completely unusual chocolate creations. Sometimes so much that you could easily lose track.

Quality has its price

The price level at this trade fair was not exactly at discounter level. But pretty much every visitor expected that, because it was about high quality food and not cheap goods. Quality has its price. For this visitor it was a great advantage that they could taste extensively before purchasing and obtain further information directly from the exhibitors.

Personal customer contact is particularly important for small businesses, as only a few are represented in national supermarkets. The reason is often very simple: it is often impossible to produce the large quantities that would be required. Direct sales is therefore the most important pillar for most suppliers and trade fairs are there to sell and make new contacts for orders.

Organizer Siikei has definitely created a great atmosphere in the MAK premises and, for the sake of small and micro businesses, it remains to be hoped that they can benefit in the long term from the newly gained customer contacts. It was a great opportunity for visitors to explore high-quality food and drinks. The specialist lectures, which are not really about sales but rather about imparting knowledge, were extremely interesting and left a positive aha effect for some participants.
