Pollen and Slovakia plan to send Soviet warplanes to Ukraine. This is the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29, a fighter aircraft that originated in the Soviet Union.
In a Facebook post, Defense Minister Jaroslav Nad expects the future delivery of MiG-29 fighter jets, which WILL be carried out with Poland’s cooperation. It is not yet known when this can finally be carried out, but Poland’s defense minister has shown solidarity with Ukraine at an early stage. Poland is already supporting Ukraine with 10 tank deliveries, with which it is planned to fully complete a tank battalion there – Poland, Canada, Norway and Spain are to supply said battalion with tanks.
However, the Minister of Defense of Slovakia makes it clear that there is no hesitation in the deliveries of the fighter jets: “I think it is time for a decision. People in Ukraine are dying. We can actually help them. Therefore, there is no longer any room for politicizing. That is inhumane and irresponsible.”
Slovakia can support Ukraine with the delivery of 10 fighter jets, while Poland can release over 30 MiG-29s for delivery. However, Nad is hoping for help from Germany or another NATO member, who should also show willingness and support Ukraine with supplies.
