Due to a warning strike that took place between Friday, January 27, 2023 (3:30 a.m.) and Saturday, January 28, 2023 (0:30 a.m.) at Düsseldorf Airport, around half of the planned flights had to be canceled so far.
The ground handling company Aviapartner, which is the largest provider in this segment at this airport, is affected. According to the Verdi union, the market share is around 75 percent. The strike participation is said to be around 90 percent. Around 350 employees work per shift.
The background to the labor dispute is that Aviapartner was not considered in the course of the re-tendering of the ground handling license. The company has been active in Düsseldorf for around 15 years. The union fears that around 700 jobs could be on the brink.
