The governments of Montenegro and Kosovo have signed an aviation agreement that will facilitate flights to/from Pristina. Specifically, additional corridors in the airspace of Montenegro may be used.

According to an official statement from Kosovo, this should result in flight times being reduced by around 15 minutes. You can see that the airlines will pass on the resulting cost advantages to the passengers. So far, most of the existing entry and exit corridors between Montenegro and Kosovo have only been used for NATO flights.

The agreement also has a completely different meaning, because until the secession from Serbia, Montenegro belonged to the community of states « Serbia and Montenegro ». The country with Belgrade as its capital does not recognize Kosovo as an independent state, but regards it as a « breakaway province ». Some other countries, including Slovakia, also refuse to recognize Kosovo.
