The Icelandic airline Icelandair will offer the most extensive flight schedule to date in winter 2023/24. The capacity is to be increased by around a quarter. This is also a reaction to the expansion of the competitor Icelandair.
The destinations Rome-Fiumicino, Baltimore and Vancouver, which were previously served seasonally, are to be offered all year round in the future. The same applies to Barcelona and Raleigh-Durham. Depending on the destination, the destinations mentioned should be headed for at least daily. The exceptions to this are Vancouver and Raleigh-Durham, which are said to be lied to four times a week.
The destinations in Munich, Boston, New York-JFK, Minneapolis and Chicago are also to be increased. The destinations mentioned will be headed for at least once a day from Keflavik. Seasonally, New York will be served up to three times a day. Boston is served eleven times a week at peak times. It will go to Tenerife South up to five times a week.
“Due to strong customer demand, we are now presenting our most comprehensive winter flight schedule to date. We have been able to upgrade seasonal routes to year-round services and increase frequencies on other routes throughout the route network for the 23/24 winter season. I am pleased that we were able to increase Icelandair’s capacity by 20-25% compared to winter 2022/2023,” said Tomas Ingason, Icelandair’s Chief Revenue Officer.
