On April 23, 2023, Lufthansa will offer non-stop flights between Frankfurt am Main and Belfast City. As things stand, it will be the only link between Germany and Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom.
It is currently planned that the crane airline WILL offer up to four round trips between the two cities. Transfer passengers have also been considered, as they want to offer an alternative to the IAG hubs to which Belfast is connected.
“Bringing an airline like Lufthansa to Northern Ireland, which offers the only connection from the region to Germany, is a huge win not only for the airport but also for the tourism and business sectors. With Germany being the third largest market for overseas tourism in the bright island, there is a clear demand for direct connections,” said Katy Best, Commercial Director at Belfast City Airport.
It is currently planned that new Lufthansa subsidiaries will be served with Embraer jets. There are flights between the two cities on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. If this is successful, it is conceivable that the frequencies could be increased at a later date.
